Rangers have agreed terms with striker Ryan Hardie over a new one-year extension as they plot to send the young forward out on loan, according to club insider Four Lads Had a Dream.

The Twitter account, which hav established themselves as a reputable source of information on the Bears, claim that the 21-year, six foot tall (source: Transfermarkt) hitman has put pen to paper to extend his stay at Ibrox, with his former deal set to expire at the end of this month.

It is stated that having agreed to a deal, the Gers will now look to secure a temporary exit for Hardie, with both Livingstone and Dundee touted as the most likely destinations.

Good move for Rangers?

It is a bit of a confusing one considering hie previous contract situation.

At 21, he really should be starting to show the talent to be good enough for the first team but obviously, with a loan exit planned, the Light Blues feel he is some way off that level.

So why get him to pen a one-year extension, if he is going to spend that year away and possibly leave at the end?

They may as well have let him go for a free, getting some compensation along the way, rather than keeping hold of him for another season.

Still, if this turns out to be his breakthrough campaign, where he ends up smashing all opposition, then perhaps another new deal will be on the cards.

Likely to happen?

Four Lads Had a Dream are usually right about most things, so it seems Hardie will indeed be a Rangers player for another 12 months.

With Steven Gerrard looking for vast improvements to his squad, the youngster stands little chance of breaking into the first team and so a temporary switch seems best for both parties.
