Senior representatives from Turkish outfit Fenerbahce are set to fly to Glasgow to open talks with Rangers over the possibility of signing striker Alfredo Morelos from the club this summer, according to Yeni Akit.

The Turkish Media outlet has revealed that the Super Lig side would be willing to pay a fee for the Colombian hitman, as well as offer them Martin Skrtel in a stunning swap swoop, who was previously linked in with a switch to the Scottish Giants earlier in the transfer window.

Morelos ended the season as the Light Blues top scorer, behind only Kris Boyd in the overall standings of the Scottish Premiership with 14 goals in total.

Good move for Rangers

Morelos was not the same player following interest from China back in January.

Indeed, then manager Graeme Murty admitted that the pursuit from the Far-East had left the former HJK Helsinki attacker “confused.”

However, the 21-year-old has proved he can find the back of the net at this level and that is priceless which means any sale of the forward would be a complete backwards step from the club.

Likely to happen?

Reports from Turkey should always be taken with a pinch of salt, however, as they say, there is no smoke without fire and there has been speculation even from Skrtel’s agent himself who previously admitted to Pro Futbol that there was interest from the Light Blues in his client.

Morelos, as it stands, is the Gers only recognised striker which means, in reality, they cannot afford to sell the Colombian as they do not have anybody already in the ranks.

Moreover, having turned down a fee reportedly in the region of £10million in January from China, it makes no sense to let him go for half of that.
