The Rangers faithful have been left raving with delight after former striker Peter Lovenkrands revealed he had agreed a deal to become a full time member of staff at Ibrox.

The Dane, who spent six years at Ibrox after signing back in 2000, confirmed via his personal Twitter account that he would be stepping up from his old role as a part-time figure of the backroom team to become a permanent fixture with the reserve side.

A firm favourite among those at Ibrox, Lovenkrands spent time over in Germany with Schalke after leaving the Light Blues, before returning to Britain with spells at Newcastle United, where he is also well regarded, and Birmingham City.

After leaving the Blues he retired as a player, and following some time out of the game was appointed a part time staff member with the club’s academy back in May 2017.

With a year of experience under his belt, he is now stepping up in terms of both responsibility as well as the squad he will be working with under new manager Steven Gerrard, and the supporters are over the moon to see their former star commit his long term future to a senior role.
