Celtic are in a race against time to try and secure the return of Odsonne Edouard on a permanent deal after his impressive loan spell last season, according to the Scottish Sun.

The report states that the Hoops have been engaged in discussions with the 6’1″ (source: Transfermarkt) giant’s parent club Paris St Germain over a potential move, with the deadline to activate a clause to purchase the 20-year-old next Saturday (June 16th).

It is stated that negotiations are set to enter the final week and that the Bhoys feel confident an expensive deal will be agreed upon before their time runs out.

Good move for Celtic?

If they can get him over the line, then absolutely.

He was not expected to play too much of a role in the first team at Parkhead, with Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths ahead in the pecking order, but he ended up making 29 appearances across all competitions, scoring 11 goals.

At just 20-years-old, he has his future ahead of him and the Hoops will be paying not only for what he can bring to the first team now, but for the potential he has.

It will likely be a complicated deal, with a number of add-ons and bonuses to be negotiated, in order for the Bhoys to afford it, and that is likely why it has gone to the final seven days before the deadline.

Likely to happen?

The Hoops are leaving it tight but they still feel confident something can happen.

Really there should not be too many hold ups from now and the deadline, and if there are then that could well scupper any chances they have of getting it over the line.

Still, talks seem positive, and fans will be eagerly awaiting some news over the next week.
