Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is closing in on an extension to his current contract deal that expires next summer, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper reports on their website that the 5’9″ maestro (source Transfermarkt) has been offered a highly increased pay rise on his current weekly salary of £100,000-a-week by the club in a bid to keep him at the Emirates and deter any suitors.

The 27-year-old’s future is said to be one of the priorities of new boss Unai Emery, as he looks to making the Welsh international a key member in his new team, using the limited wage budget he has at his disposal to get the current star to commit his future.

Good move for Arsenal?

The Welshman is a firm fan favourite at the Emirates, and the news of a new contract offer for one of their star players will be music to their ears.

Unai Emery wants to keep the central midfielder at the North London-based club, so increasing the star’s salary will keep him where the Arsenal boss wants him.

Arsenal would be much weaker in midfield without the 53-cap international so this new deal allows Emery to keep within this summer’s budget for this area.
