Former Rangers striker Kenny Miller is one step closer to becoming Livingstone’s new player-manager, according to the Daily Record.

The Scottish newspaper claimed on their live transfer blog [07:51 am] that Miller has had a ‘face to face’ meeting with the board to discuss how Livi will survive relegation next season and could be announced in charge within the next 48 hours.

The report indicates that Miller’s appointment could come in as little as two days from now, having left the Gers at the end of last season.

OPINION

Despite his legendary status at the Ibrox Stadium, it was clear that Kenny Miller had no future at Rangers following Steven Gerrard’s appointment, and as such had to seek ventures new. Aged at 38, there might be a little bit of life left in the former Scotland international’s boots yet, but this player-manager role looks set to be his first step on the inevitable ladder into full-time management. Keeping Livi up will be no easy accomplishment, but Miller knows a thing or two about scoring goals, which can only serve him in good stead. The three-time Gers player has netted over 100 goals for the Ibrox based giants, and this mentality could help Livi in their quest for survival, and it is likely that Miller himself will grab a few more if he gets the opportunity to play on. This seems like a really good appointment for the former Rangers star, as the pressure and expectations are slightly eased, and the 38-year-old can slowly regulate himself to life as a manager, having spent the best part of 20 years in senior football as a player. The appointment, if made, seems to be an amicable one, but Gers fans will be hoping that Miller won’t find the net again at the Ibrox.
