Recently released Jamie McCart has found his new home, as the defender has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, the club has confirmed.

Inverness Caley Thistle released the news by means of their official Twitter account on Thursday afternoon:

The 20-year-old Celtic academy graduate made his first competitive debut for the Hoops as a substitute in a Scottish League Cup fixture versus Motherwell in 2016, but was never able to secure a regular first-team place.

The defender spent six months on loan at Caley Thistle, making 11 appearances for the club at the end of the 2016/17 season, and will now compete with Coll Donaldson, Brad Mckay and Gary Warren for the starting spot.

Good move for Celtic?

Yes.

The academy graduate never looked like making it into the Hoops starting XI, despite multiple chances at loan moves away from the club to improve his development and now seems like a good time to sanction his permanent exit.

Having already spent time at Caley Thistle, this is the perfect club for the 20-year-old moving forward, to improve where the chances of meaningful football will be much larger with them.

Celtic’s team, and aspirations have been greatly improved in seasons past, so there was simply no space for the promising defender in Brendan Rodgers’ back line.
