Brendan Rodgers has been raving about Liverpool forward Danny Ings after he reportedly made himself available for transfer his summer, however the Celtic manager is not interested in adding him to his side.

The Telegraph has reported that Ings, 25, wants to leave Anfield this transfer window despite being offered the chance to sign a new deal with the Merseyside club.

He has since been linked with a number of clubs, but one of the clubs that will not be signing him is Celtic, as Rodgers has confirmed that he is happy with his current striker options in Glasgow.

“Danny is a fantastic player and has been really, really unfortunate for a few years with injury but I have got the three strikers at the moment and we don’t need any more,” he said, as quoted by the Mirror in their live transfer blog on Saturday [02:24pm].

The Daily Star has reported that Ings earns £60,000-a-week on his deal at Liverpool, who finished fourth in the Premier League last season.

OPINION

Ings made just 14 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool last season, even though is back to full fitness. The former Burnley star has had a very frustrating time since joining the Reds in 2015 due to injury, but even with him available for selection, Jurgen Klopp simply has no plans for him in his side. Ings would be a good signing for Celtic, but like Rodgers says, he doesn’t need him at the moment. Unless one, or both, of Leigh Griffiths or Moussa Dembele leave then the Hoops’ striker options are set for the near future. Ings would probably prefer to stay in the Premier League though as that gives him a better shot of getting back into the picture with the England international team. He has one international cap to his name already and surely he would have more chance of adding to that by joining a mid-table Premier League side.
