Wolves winger Ivan Cavaleiro’s recent social media message will be music to the ears for supporters of the Molineux Club, after he claimed that he could not wait to start the new season with his club, hinting that he’s going nowhere.

There had been suggestions, namely from The Mirror, that the attacker could have been on his way to Championship side Huddersfield as the Terriers considered their options on the goalscoring front and were targeting the 24-year-old.

But the Portuguese attacker is a fan favourite at the West Midlands outfit and they would not have wanted to see the nine goal hitman leave this summer.

In a move which will undoubtedly quieten down all the transfer talk, Cavaleiro wrote on Twitter: “Looking forward to start the season with my club.”

OPINION

This is great news for Wolves who really do need to hold on to their best attackers if they are going to stand any chance of battling with the Premier League’s best defenders, particularly after they sold Benik Afobe to Stoke City last week despite having only signed him permanently days before. The threat that Cavaleiro offers down the right side of midfield was apparent all season long as he was an integral member of the side that stormed to the championship title and he will be needing to fire on all cylinders once more in the top-flight for the upcoming season. Nine goals and 12 assists from the right wing, as the attacker missed only four games in the entirety of the campaign, is the reason he is so well thought of at Molineux. Wolves need to add to their side, not decimate it, so with the player’s tweet it will settle any concerns that were lingering surrounding the Portuguese ace’s future.
