West Ham are looking to keep up their impressive transfer business and have made an offer for Jean-Michael Seri, according to Tutto Mercato.

The Italian news website reported that Seri is gaining interest from a number of clubs, but it is the Hammer who are the closest to signing the Ivory Coast international.

It is understood that Manuel Pellegrini has submitted a ‘concrete offer’ to French club OGC Nice, where Seri has been playing since 2015.

Good move for West Ham?

Maybe.

Seri is a dynamic player with great passing ability, however the Hammers are already pretty stacked at the midfield position.

The Ivory Coast international would bring with him an enigmatic edge to his play, being relatively unknown to Premier League defenders, yet one must ask if the price is too much.

Mark Noble is a premium option at the position at the moment, but he isn’t getting any younger, so Seri could represent a long-term option to the Hammers.

Likely to happen?

Possibly, but I don’t think so.

The report indicates that Seri is a huge fan of Carlo Ancelotti, and his Napoli side are showing an interest in the player also.

Should the Italian giants make an offer it will be hard to imagine that the 26-year-old will opt for a move to West Ham over Napoli.

However, it is understood that West Ham are currently in pole position, so other clubs will have to move fast to prize him away from Pellegrini.
