West Ham United have decided to reopen negotiations over signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore despite discussions between two parties previously breaking down, according to Sky Sports.

A report from the media giants states that the prior issue in talks had been down to the player’s demands on a financial level, with wages said to be the sticking block.

The Hammers are keen admirers of the Argentinian forward who has one year left remaining on his contract at the Parc des Princes and the French  Ligue 1 champions are happy to sell this summer so as not to risk losing him for nothing next year.

A deal of around £17.5million is being put together for the 28-year-old attacking midfielder, who can play in any number of positions across the midfield, and is looking to receive in the region of £190,000-a-week at the London Stadium.

OPINION:

There is so much talk about comings and goings at the London Stadium that it is getting difficult  to judge the nonsense from the truth. We do not think that the Hammers will be making outgoings on players who are going to cost them in the region of £190,000 a week and if that is what he is demanding then we think that the Irons should end their interest completely. With Sky Sports reporting that a deal for Felipe Anderson is nearing its final stages we think that he is the man West Ham will be looking to fill the hole left by Manuel Lanzini after the Argentinian playmaker recently underwent an operation to repair a cruciate ligament damage incurred on international duty and not Pastore to arrive at the London Stadium in this summer’s window. There are also question marks over Pastore’s ability to remain fit having spent a number of games last season sat on the sidelines through one injury or another.
