Tottenham Hotspur should make Mexico winger Hirving Lozano their prime transfer target this summer if they are serious about winning the Premier League.

Spurs have a tremendously talented squad, full of technically gifted players of the highest quality, but as their recent league finishes have proven, they’re missing that final piece of the jigsaw that would make them genuine title contenders.

Mauricio Pochettino has built a strong defensive unit, a creative midfield and a deadly attack, but it’s out wide where they need something extra special.

Son Heung-min was impressive last year on the left side of attack, scoring 18 goals and contributing 11 assists in 53 games in all competitions (TransferMarkt). But it’s on the opposite side that there’s an issue with the likes of Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura and Moussa Sissoko proving ineffective and not contributing enough in terms of goals and assists.

The South Korean should move to the right, where he played regularly for his previous club Bayer Leverkusen, and Mexican winger Hirving Lozano should be brought in to play on the left.

The 22-year-old scored an impressive 19 goals and 11 assists in just 34 appearances for PSV Eindhoven last season (TransferMarkt) and has been one of the standout stars at the FIFA World Cup in Russia, scoring the winner as Mexico beat Germany 1-0 last Sunday, after arriving at the competition without a global reputation.

He’s certainly been one of the surprise hits of the World Cup so far.

His outstanding dribbling attributes would add something that Spurs don’t currently have in their squad, the ability to open teams up by going past people, Lozano’s pace could do real damage to most teams in the Premier League.

With Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli supporting Harry Kane, having both Son and Lozano either side of attack too would help the North London club go up an extra level, and become a real title force.
