West Ham fans on social media were thrilled at their club being interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.
Sky Sports claimed on Friday that the Hammers were interested in signing the 26-year-old midfielder, who is currently on a £110,000-a-week salary at the Emirates according to the Telegraph, and supporters were beyond happy over at the report.
One fan tweeted to question how could any West Ham supporter be unhappy with signing Wilshere on a free transfer, with another stating that he was the perfect fit considering his contract situation.
Wilshere previously revealed via his Instagram account that he was set to leave the Gunners this summer when his contract expires in June as following a meeting with manager Unai Emery he discovered his playing time would be significantly reduced next season.
The central midfielder didn’t give any inkling to who his next club would be as he shared that ahead of the meeting and throughout talks over a new contract his intention was always to remain a Gunner.
Wilshere featured 20 times in the Premier League last season, scoring one goal while creating three in his outings.
