Arsenal’s restructure in the post-Wenger era has continued, as Jens Lehmann has left the Emirates, the club has confirmed

New Gunners boss Unai Emery will be without the services of the Arsenal legend for the coming season, as the former goalkeeper has left his role as assistant coach.

Steve Bould, Sal Bibbo and Darren Burgess are the only three returning members of staff, as the former PSG boss begins his reign in London.

Lehmann is one name on a list of 10 casualties, who have all been replaced by Emery, as he continues his face-lift at the Emirates.

It was always going to be the way, that Unai Emery appointed his own team of coaching staff ahead of the 2018/19 season. Lehmann is a notable casualty, however, as the Gunners legend once again cuts ties with the north-London giants after a five-year spell as a player in the mid-2000’s. Starting this daunting task of resurrecting Arsenal’s Premier League status, Emery will want a team of people he knows and trusts around him, so it is not surprising that the Gunners have released such a large amount of staff members. Arsenal were quick to welcome the new members of Emery’s coaching staff, as well as post their thanks to the departing coaches. Arsenal Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis stated that he was thankful for their services, but one must wonder whether a back room shuffled was needed to push Arsenal on from a stale patch. The Wenger departure was the catalyst for the eventual domino effect6 of changes, and Arsenal will not be almost unrecognisable from last season, but this could be what is so desperately needed if they are to push on for their Title hopes.
