Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has emerged as a target for Ligue 1 outfit Marseille, according to Foot 01.

Schneiderlin joined the Toffees from Manchester United back in January 2017, for a fee reported to be worth £20milion.

However, with the appointment of Marco Silva as manager, the Everton fans can expect a mass exodus of players, as the Portuguese born gaffer prefers to work with a smaller squad.

The report indicates that Marseille will be heavily interested in signing the France international if he is to become one of the players that Silva shows the exit door.

Good move for Everton?

Probably.

Schneiderlin, despite some good performances for the Toffees, never really looked the part at Goodison Park, and his huge wage bill could be an off-putting factor for Silva.

The report indicates that Marseille believes they could secure his signing with a bid of £20million, slightly less than what Everton themselves paid.

His loss would give more first-team chances to other player’s, and reduce the wage bill, so Everton must consider offers if they receive any.

Likely to happen?

Maybe.

Schneiderlin is likely to be one of the players the Silva gives the axe too, as he never really flashed during his time at Goodison Park.

Silva likes to work with a small young squad, and the money raised by any potential sale could go a long way for the club to strengthen other areas.

The journeyman centre-mid is also likely to favour a move to his home country, where he can earn much more first-team minutes.
