Aston Villa could be set to make a quick buck from Middlesbrough, as it was revealed that the Villans have a sell on clause in place on former player Adama Traore.

It was reported on Monday by Arab News that PSG was interested in signing the Boro forward, and view him as a cheaper replacement to Angel Di Maria or Julian Draxler.

Yet now, the Birmingham Mail have revealed that Villa implemented a large sell on clause when they sold Traore back in 2016, so could stand to profit if PSG pursues the former Barcelona man.

This could be the break Villa are looking for amidst their substantial financial issues, as it was reported that Traore has an £18million release clause in his current contract.

This could be a nice piece of business by Tony Xia, if the sale goes through. PSG are currently undergoing a large scale Financial Fair Play issue as well as Villa, so will have to sell a number of their best players to comply with the regulations. It is reported that PSG views Traore as a significantly cheaper option to a number of their players, which would only help Xia and his current situation. This must be a nice surprise for Villa fans, who are now hoping that the French giants pull the trigger on the former Barcelona academy star, as they will take all the help they can get. It is thought that Villa must sell a number of their first-team regulars to raise funds to comply with FFP, but this potential income would be a welcome boost to the books, as Xia desperately looks for ways to raise funds. Xia will rest a little easier tonight knowing that his previous business plans could severely help him in his current situation, and Villa could expect a large sum of money from that sale.
