Premier League duo Crystal Palace and Bournemouth are considering bids to sign West Ham defender Declan Rice, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that the English pair are lining up the 19-year-old amid his contract stand-off at the London Stadium.

It is understood that the Irish centre-back is set to be pushed down the pecking order under new manager Manuel Pellegrini following the signing of powerhouse Issa Diop.

The Daily Mail previously reported that Rice has rejected the offer of a new £8,000-a-week deal at West Ham and believes he deserves more given he broke into the first team in the recent season.

Good move for West Ham?

West Ham have to ensure that Rice does not exit the London Stadium this summer or it will massively come back to bite them.

The ball-playing defender has shown that he has all the attributes to be an elite Premier League player in the future as he develops and that path should be with the Hammers.

He really impressed at senior level in the recent campaign and should be playing another first-team role under Pellegrini.

Likely to happen?

West Ham surely won’t let their rising star slip through their fingers this summer, but the interest from Premier League rivals should be a concern.

They need to wrap up a deal for him ASAP and make sure he commits his long-term future.
