Rangers are interested in a move for Kilmarnock star Jordan Jones, but will face competition from a number of clubs, reports the Daily Mail.

The English newspaper revealed the news on their live transfer blog, [Tuesday 04:15 pm], stating that Steven Gerrard’s outfit are one of four team’s interested in the winger.

The former England captain has wasted no time as Rangers manager and has already finalised five signings this summer.

However, Gerrard will have to move fast to sign Jones, as it is understood that Hull City are preparing a £600,000 bid for the winger, who managed to tally 10 assists through all competitions last season.

Good move for Rangers?

Yes.

Rangers are in need of some fresh legs going forward, and Jones could help the team with his direct playing style, and great passing array.

The winger notched 10 assists for Killy last season, and looked threatening throughout the year for Rangers domestic rivals.

The sum involved is not too large, and would also not bear the burden of expectation, so Gerrard must move fast.

Likely to happen?

No.

Rangers are hard-pressed to secure a deal, as Hull City are already preparing a respectable bid for the in-demand Winger.

Gerrard has already brought in new legs at the position in Scott Arfield, and has a number of other squad members who can compete for that place.

Having already spent a pretty penny on two new centre-halves, it is unlikely that Gerrard will want to be spending too much more.
