Bournemouth forward Lewis Grabban is Nottingham Forest’s number one target this transfer window as the club also look to sign Nelson Oliveira and Patrick Bamford, according to the Nottingham Post.

The report states that manager Aitor Karanka is in pursuit of players with Championship experience in order to bolster his side’s attack and the Cherries are looking to sell the prolific hitman who ticks all the boxes.

Grabban spent last season on loan at Sunderland as they fought against relegation and despite their plight, the forward continued to find the back of the net regularly, scoring 12 goals in 20 games for the Black Cats.

It was a similar story following his January transfer move on loan to Aston Villa where he continued in a rich vein of form, registering a further eight in 18 matches.

This meant that Grabban ended his 2017/18 campaign having scored 20 goals in 38 games across all competitions.

Both Norwich City centre-back Nelson Oliveira and Middlesbrough’s versatile attacker Bamford have shown they can do it at Championship level.

OPINION:

All three would be great signings and welcomed at the City Ground by supporters. While Grabban may be in the twilight of his career he continues to prove he still has something to offer the game and with goals hard to come by last season with the Cherries hitman within the ranks, they certainly stand a greater chance of being a bigger threat going forward. And with Bamford to back up his goals, you would have to think that Forest ought to be pushing for the playoff spots. Michael Dawson is now back at the Reds, as it looks as though Karanka is also keen to shore up the rearĀ and if the club could complete a deal for Oliveira, who was one of the Canaries more consistent performers in the previous campaign, you would have to say that Forest would be distinctly improved across the pitch going into the new Championship season.
