Leeds United are plotting a swoop for Argentinian manager, Marcelo Bielsa, with the future of Paul Heckingbottom up in the air, according to ESPN.

The report states that due to the former Barnsley manager’s poor success rate at Elland Road following his appointment into the role back in February, despite signing a contract until the end of the 2018/19 season, it looks like his time at the Yorkshire outfit is nearing its end.

Bielsa is highly-acclaimed on the European stage and has even been dubbed as “the best coach in the world” by two of the Premier League’s best managers, Mauricio Pochettino and Pep Guardiola.

The 62-year-old has had managerial spells at Lille latterly, and prior to that Lazio, Marseille, Athletic Bilbao, as well as the Chile and Argentina national manager to name just a few.

Good move for Leeds?

An unbelievable move for Leeds if they could pull this one off.

Ok, his trophy cabinet is a little on the empty side but his reputation amongst some of the greats of the game speaks for itself.

The fact that he has managed some of the biggest names in football and dealt with some big egos will stand him in good stead for all that awaits him at Elland Road.

His no-nonsenseĀ approach will be loved by supporters who will be getting a passionate man they can relate to.

Likely to happen?

According to the ESPN report, Bielsa is interested in the post and as he has been out of work since NovemberĀ of last year, he will likely be raring to get back into the game.

Leeds’ owner Andrea Radrizzani is clearly thinking big following the club’s partnership with 49ers Enterprises so we think he has the ambition and the drive to attract the out of work manager.

If he can afford him, then it is certainly a move the Italian would be interested in.
