Rangers are eyeing a move to sign midfielder Dylan McGeouch with his contract at Hibernian expiring this summer, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claims that new Gers manager Steven Gerrard is plotting a raid for the 25-year-old, while his assistant Gary McAllister has enquired about his position.

It is understood that Hibs still hope to keep hold of the enforcer and they have tabled a £3,000-a-week deal to try keep him, but English side Blackburn are also tempted by a move following their promotion to the Championship.

The report details that the Light Blues are now in the mix to sign the Scotland international, who is also a former Celtic player.

Good move for Rangers?

Gerrard’s stint at Ibrox has officially commenced on Friday and the supporters are excited to see what new arrivals come to the club in the summer.

McGeouch may not be the eye-catching name that fans are expecting, but on a free transfer he could be a decent bit of business for the Gers.

He was a mainstay in the Hibs side that finished fourth in the league this campaign and his know-how in the division is crucial.

The central midfielder has managed to force his way into contention for Scotland at international level and the touch tackler would help stiffen up options in the centre of the park.

Likely to happen?

It seems like Rangers’ interest is a firm one after contact from McAllister, but Hibs are desperate to keep hold of their combative midfielder and interest from England should be of some concern.
