Celtic could be on the verge of a massive transfer bombshell following the news that Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are in the hunt for Moussa Dembele, according to The Scottish Sun.

The report from the media outlet has suggested that with the Hoops having recently completed the signing of Odsonne Edouard on a permanent deal from Paris Saint-Germain for a club record fee thought to be worth £9million (according to Sky Sports) they could be set to sell the much more prolific forward to the Germans.

French U21 international, Dembele, was not the free-scoring hitman he was in his first season at the club following his move to Celtic Park from Fulham in 2016 but he continued to prove he knew how to find the back of the net with 16 goals in 39 games.

It’s not a first time that the striker has been linked with a move away from Glasgow, only in the Daily Mail in January there were suggestions that Brighton were in for the forward.

And back in May, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers made a shock revelation where he was quoted in the Scottish Sun as admitting that the 21-year-old could be sold in the summer.

Good move for Celtic?

Absolutely not. A transfer of the young Frenchman would be a backward step for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Dembele is a prolific forward and has shown time and time again that he is more than capable of finding the back of the net in the Scottish Premiership.

Yes, they have done a deal for Edouard but his finishing ability still leaves a lot to be desired and is certainly not an upgrade on his teammate.

Likely to happen?

There’s no way the Celtic would have splashed that kind of money on Edouard if they did not think they would recoup some of that outlay by selling a player and it looks likely that the only player who could bring in a financial boost is that of Dembele.

So yes, we think that Rogers will be looking at getting a bidding war going for the striker as there is no way he will play second fiddle to his fellow compatriot.
