Premier League duo Watford and Bournemouth are scrapping over the signature of Celtic ace Callum McGregor, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that the top-flight pair are in a £10million battle to sign the attacking midfielder in the summer.

It is understood that the 24-year-old previously spent time on loan with Notts County and has an “appetite” to return to England for more football.

The report details the Bhoys will want to recoup a decent fee for their academy product, as he still has three years remaining on his contract and the Premier League pair are set to fight to get him.

Good move for Celtic?

McGregor has been a mainstay in the Celtic starting XI this campaign and preferably should keep him over the summer.

The versatile Scotland international usually plays in the number 10 role behind the striker, but has the versatility to fill any position in midfield.

He has a tremendous work-rate and has scored 11 goals while providing eight assists in all competitions this season.

McGregor is a vital component of Brendan Rodgers’ outfit and the only flip side is that £10million would be a sizeable return.

Likely to happen?

McGregor has come right through the ranks at Parkhead and is now a fully pledged member of the first team.

There appears to be firm interest from Premier League sides in him and it could be difficult to ignore a eight-figure sum, while the player is also believed to be open on a move to England.
