Celtic are closing in on a deal to sign Liverpool centre-forward Rhian Brewster, according to the Scottish Herald.

The news outlet claims that the Bhoys are in advanced talks for the 18-year-old with the English outfit, who are currently third in the Premier League table and in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

It is understood that Brendan Rodgers’ side are close to landing the teenager on a season-long loan for the next campaign.

It is understood that there is still interest from other parties, but that that the Merseyside club are willing to loan him to the Scottish giants to help his development.

Brewster is yet to make a first-team appearances for Liverpool, but is still seen as one of the best young talents at Anfield.

The blistering fast striker helped England’s Under-17s side win the World Cup last year and he starred by scoring eight goals to win the golden boot award.

Good move for Celtic?

Celtic may need some more attacking reinforcements for next season and taking an initial loan chance on him makes sense.

Brewster is yet to be tested at senior level, but the early signs are that he’d be able to cope and could be a star for the future.

Likely to happen?

Rodgers’ influence at his former club Liverpool could come in handy in helping this deal get over the line.

The teenager would surely thrive at this stage in his career from tasting senior football away from Anfield and Celtic will offer him that.
