Rangers will have to wait until August at the earliest if they want to sign up Liverpool forward Dominic Solanke on loan, according to Goal.

The football news site claims that the Light Blues are interested in Solanke, 20, however Steven Gerrard wants to do the bulk of his summer business as early as possible, which could mean that a swoop for the England international may not happen.

It is understood that Solanke, who  Telegraph has reported earns £20,000-a-week at Liverpool, may “have” to spend the 2018/19 campaign out on loan after failing to much first team football in his debut season at Anfield.

Good move for Rangers?

Solanke would be a great signing for Rangers and Gerrard should push as hard as he can to let Liverpool allow him to move to Ibrox on a temporary basis.

Jurgen Klopp took the same approach with younger players last summer when he waited until later into the transfer window to assess them during pre-season before sending them out on loan.

Solanke made 27 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool this term and scored his first goal for them in the last game of the Premier League season against Brighton.

Though he has not been prolific in the England, most of his appearances are off the bench and it will be much easier for him to find the net in Scotland.

Likely to happen?

As Gerrard wants his business done early, presumably because of the early Europa League qualifiers, there is now doubt over whether or not Solanke will head to Ibrox this summer.

However for a player of his quality, surely the Rangers boss will be willing to wait it out before approaching Liverpool in August.

There could still be hope for the Gers.
