Everton could revive interest in Crystal Palace flyer Patrick van Aanholt this summer with director of football Marcel Brand “well aware” of the Netherlands international’s abilities, according to the Daily Mail.

And with van Aanholt, 27, showing such a dazzling run of form at the end of the Premier League season, he must be made the number one priority signing that the Toffees should wrap up with Leighton Baines’ future in doubt.

The Sun reported in May that senior star Baines, 33, could quit Goodison Park this summer in order to seal a move to the MLS with both of the LA franchises interested in signing him.

Palace left-back van Aanholt would be a perfect replacement for Baines, especially as his eyecatching record in the final weeks of the campaign prove that he has what it takes to fill the void that the ex-Wigan ace is bound to leave at Goodison.

The former Sunderland and Chelsea flyer scored in each of the final three games of the campaign in wins against Leicester, Stoke and West Brom.

In March, the Dutchman also scored against Manchester United and his former club Chelsea, however Palace were to lose both of those games.

Van Aanholt’s marauding runs down the left can strike fear into the hearts of any Premier League defence. He is fast, direct and most of all, he is very clever and knows the when the opportunity is there for him to burst forward.
