Rangers are plotting to make a third bid for Brighton’s Connor Goldson after Steven Gerrard gave the green light for yet another offer for the centre-back, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper claims that the Light Blues had an offer worth £2million rejected by the Premier League club on Friday but it is understood that they are willing to do business and wanted added incentives in order to sell the 25-year-old.

Goldson, who stands at 6ft 3in tall according to transfermarkt, has dropped down the pecking order at the AMEX in the last year with the defensive colossus appearing just eight times in all competitions this season.

Statistics website Spotrac reports that Goldson earns £20,000-a-week in his Brighton contract.

Good move for Rangers?

Goldson is a decent defender and will certainly offer an improvement on what Gerrard will already have to use at Ibrox.

He has only dropped down the pecking order at Brighton due to the club’s promotion to the Premier League and the fact that he has to undergo heart surgery last year.

It doesn’t mean he is a bad player at all and for around £2million, he could become a very good signing for the Gers.

Likely to happen?

Gerrard seems intent on signing Goldson and it’s surely just a matter of time before Brighton accept one of their bids.

The Seagulls appear willing to cash in on the former Shrewsbury centre-back while Gerrard has sanctioned numerous offers.

Brighton are just holding out for the right sum of money before offloading him, but it appears once that stumbling block is dealt with, Goldson will soon be a Rangers player.
