Stoke have reportedly made a bid worth around £4million for West Brom winger James McClean – and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers must make a move as soon as possible if he wants any chance of signing the Republic of Ireland international.

McClean, 29, has previously admitted that he would love to play for Celtic after recently playing for Ireland at Parkhead in Scott Brown’s testimonial game last week.

The Hoops supporters adore him and were quick to urge the former Derry and Sunderland flyer to join the Scottish champions after seeing him play in Glasgow’s East End.

And now, it seems that the fans may not be granted their wish if Celtic don’t act soon as Stoke have tabled an offer for the West Brom ace.

The Mirror claimed in their live transfer blog on Saturday [02:12pm] that Albion are in no rush to offload the Ireland international, especially to a Championship rivals and would demand a fee of £6million.

Celtic would surely be able to snap him up cheaper though as West Brom are only trying to scare off interest from a local rival who will also be battling them for promotion back to the Premier League next season.

Rodgers must definitely attempt to hijack Stoke’s effort to sign McClean.

What will be better than winning the triple-treble by the Derry-born flyer on board?
