Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to urge West Brom and Republic of Ireland winger James McClean to sign for them in the summer transfer window.

McClean, 29, played out his childhood dream on Sunday when he featured for Ireland in Scott Brown’s testimonial game at Celtic Park.

There’s no doubt that the Derry-born flyer would have rather have been playing for the home side though as he has previously made it very clear that he wants to play for the Bhoys before the end of his career.

With West Brom being relegated from the Premier League, there’s every chance that the former Wigan and Sunderland player will be on the move in the coming weeks and months as the Baggies look to cash in on some of those who played a part in their relegation.

Darren Moore was clearly a fan of McClean after he was handed the reigns when Alan Pardew was sacked.

McClean started all six of Moore’s games in caretaker charge, and now with the former defender handed the job on a permanent basis, there’s every chance that he could also want to keep him at The Hawthorns as Albion look to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

That has not stopped Celtic fans from urging him to sign for them this summer though.

One fan claimed it would be a “perfect match” to have him on board for next season.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

According to statistics website Spotrac, McClean earns £30,000-a-week in his deal at the Baggies, which has one more year left to run before expiring.
