Lozano responds to reported Everton offer

|

PSV and Mexico attacker Hirving Lozano has admitted that he would consider his future if he had the chance to leave Eindhoven in the future, but he is not contemplating a move to Everton after it was reported that an offer had been made.

Mexican news outlet Super Deportivo claimed that the Toffees had tabled a mega-bid that would see him become his nation’s most expensive player.

It is understood that PSV want £42million for the 22-year-old attacker, a fee that Everton and Arsenal are happy to meet.

However Lozano has issued a response to these rumours and while he has a lot of time for new Goodison Park director of football Marcel Brands, who signed him at PSV, he has confirmed that he is not yet considering a move to Merseyside.

“Brands brought me to PSV, I’m grateful, happy, but I’m not thinking about whether I’m an option [for Everton],” he said, as quoted by the Mirror in their live transfer blog on Tuesday [07:27am].

“If there is an option to leave we’ll decide what is the best decision for me and my family, but I’m concentrating on the national team.”

OPINION

Lozano has been in stunning form for PSV this season as they stormed to the Eredivise total. The Mexico international has been involved in 30 goals all together by scoring 19 and supplying 11 assists in his 34 appearances across all competitions. Although the Dutch league is nowhere near as good as the Premier League, Lozano is certainly someone who could reproduce his fine form in England. The Mexican has been long-linked with a switch to the Premier League and his form in Holland will surely attract more attention than what it did when he played for Pachuca. Brands’ switch to Goodison Park will surely but the Toffees in pole position to sign Lozano if they really want him, but it seems that they will have to part with a lot of cash. Everton have other areas of the squad that need strengthening before they splash the cash on Lozano, but it really would be a good move for the club.
