Aston Villa must do everything they can to ensure on loan striker Lewis Grabban is given a permanent deal to remain at Villa Park next season after the player admitted his future was “in the air.”

The forward, who has been ripping up the Championship this campaign, both with the Birmingham outfit and Sunderland in the first half of the season, has one year remaining on his current deal with Bournemouth.

With nothing set in stone for his future and plainly unfancied by his manager Eddie Howe on the south coast, the Villans should use the fact the Cherries will be looking to move him on this summer, or else risk losing him for nothing next season.

Grabban, 30, has been in sumptuous form this term, scoring 12 goals for now relegated Sunderland and adding a further eight for Villa.

The hitman’s goals have been vital too – with efforts against Leeds and Preston coming when their season had looked to be on the rocks, whilst a goal against rivals Wolves always goes down well with the Villa faithful.

However, after former Millwall forward admitted in the Birmingham Mail that nothing was set in stone with regards to his future, Villa must take advantage of the situation by landing the player on a permanent basis – and one who can score goals at any level will set them in good stead for wherever their adventures are next season.
