Rangers are in advanced talks with Allan McGregor as the Scotland international closes in on a sensational return to Ibrox, according to The Scottish Sun

The newspaper report that the 36-year-old stopper is set to sign a two-year deal and will join the Light Blues when his contract with Hull City comes to an end this summer.

The Sun claim that the two parties are locked in talks over the terms of the contract, with discussions possibly to come to a conclusion by the end of the week.

McGregor began his career in the Ibrox academy, making his debut in 2002 before securing the number one jersey in the 2006/07 season.

The highly-experienced stopper then left the club as a free agent when they went into administration in 2012, having made 250 appearances for the club.

Good move for Rangers?

Yes.

McGregor is a bit of a club legend at Ibrox and securing a return for the 36-year-old will surely make the fans happy after a tough season.

In footballing terms, McGregor also offers a step up from current incumbent Wes Foderingham, with questions remaining about the Englishman despite a solid season.
