Davie Provan revealed that he thought the Rangers board made the right decision by suspending senior duo Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace.

In his column for the Scottish Sun, the former Celtic player slammed Miller and Wallace for having an angry exchange, as reported by the BBC, with manager Graeme Murty in the dressing room following the 4-0 defeat to the Hoops.

“We’re told the two veterans’ alleged torching of Graeme Murty demonstrates they care more than their team-mates,” stated Proven in his column for the national newspaper.

“Forgive me if my heart doesn’t bleed for them. Dissing a lame duck manager doesn’t mean you care more.

“If they felt so strongly, they could have confronted Murty privately on Monday morning.”

The Gers acted quickly to suspend the pair for the reported incident by issuing a statement via the club’s official website, before vowing to investigate what actually happened following the loss to Celtic.

However despite the Gers’ investigation still ongoing, Provan was quick to praise the club’s board for their swift action.

“You’d never know who’s calling the shots at Ibrox these days but whoever took the decision to bullet Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace was spot-on,” wrote Provan.

“This dysfunctional Rangers board gets little right but removing that pair from the dressing room was the correct call.”

Provan along with condemning Miller and Wallace’s actions as well as complimenting the Gers’ board, made several comments to reveal that he didn’t agree with former players deciding to publicly defend the pair.

OPINION

Finally, the Rangers board actually get praised for one of their decisions. Provan may call them dysfunctional and imply that the majority of choices they make are wrong, but they get so little praise, they will be happy that someone has publicly approved one of their decisions. The former Hoops player is clear on his stance regarding Miller and Wallace, with him suggesting in his column that neither have the right to have a go at Murty. It’s interesting that Provan goes on to share that he believes Wallace deserves no special treatment for standing by the club in its darkest hour. The former Hoops player claims that the left-back was stupid not to abandon the club when it dropped down the leagues, as he should have put his family first.
