Celtic centre-forward Leigh Griffiths has not done enough to make the starting XI against Rangers on Sunday and he has every right to be furious with manager Brendan Rodgers.

The 27-year-old has been snubbed from the starting line up and has had to make do with a place on the bench in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

He has proven his fitness with substitute appearances in the last three consecutive league games and his recent match winning performance against Hamilton showed his class.

The Scotland international came off the bench to score within a minute and his predatory instincts make him arguably the best goalscorer at the club.

However, Rodgers has elected to go with just Moussa Dembele at the point of attack and Griffiths can consider himself hard done by to miss out.

Celtic face their bitter Old Firm rivals on Sunday afternoon and the winner will face Motherwell in the Scottish Cup final, with the latter beating Aberdeen 3-0 on Saturday in the other semi-final.

Rodgers is still on for a domestic treble this season and surely has to pick his best team to blow away Rangers.

The Bhoys have the firepower to really get at Graeme Murty’s side and that is why it seemed a no-brainer to start with a two-man attack.

Griffiths is a big-game player that has proven himself in Old Firm derbies in the past and will be ready to fire after his recent absence.

The left-footed striker has 13 goals and eight assists already this campaign and has every right to be raging with his manager.
