Tottenham Hotspur secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon, and there were plenty of talking points to take away from the match.

Stoke came out of the blocks well and had a brilliant chance to take the lead with Ramadan Sobhi found Mame Diouf in the box, but the Senegal international could only blaze his first-time effort over the bar.

Tottenham had their own big chance to take the lead in the first-half when Son Heung-Min was played through by Dele Alli, but Jack Butland did well to smother the South Korean’s effort.

Spurs eventually took the lead after half-time through Christian Eriksen, with Alli doing well to patiently wait for the Dane’s late run into the box before a pinpoint pass allowed him to fire home low into the corner.

Their lead however only lasted five minutes, with captain Hugo Lloris making his second mistake in two weeks after his clearance struck Diouf, who tucked home into an open goal.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men were back in front soon after though, with Eriksen’s wide free-kick evading everyone and nestling in the far corner. Harry Kane claimed a touch on the way through but Eriksen was eventually awarded the goal.

This is Futbol have picked out three things we learned about Tottenham from the win, including one key decision that Pochettino must make for their clash with Manchester City next weekend.
