Michael Owen is predicting Liverpool to book their place in the Champions League semi-finals when they face Manchester City on Tuesday night.

The Reds travel to the Etihad Stadium for the second leg of their quarter-final tie and currently lead 3-0 on aggregate.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been impressive in Europe this campaign and annihilated Man City at Anfield last week, but still have

Owen has tipped the Merseyside club to do enough to qualify for the last four and singled out midfielder James Milner for special praise.

He feels the Liverpool 32-year-old has been a “revelation” in recent weeks, as he has become a mainstay in the starting line up.

The Englishman has been in scintillating form in the Champions League and seven of his 11 assists this season have come in the European competition.

“The tie would almost be in the balance had City scored at Anfield, but I can’t see them keeping a clean sheet against the Reds who have so much pace and power on the break,” Owen wrote in his column for Bet Victor.

“I expect to see goals and Liverpool will miss both Emre Can (injured) and Jordan Henderson (suspended) but City old-boy James Milner has been a revelation in recent weeks for Jurgen Klopp’s side who I feel will do more than enough to be in Friday’s semi-final draw in Switzerland.”

OPINION

Milner has once again proven this season that he is a criminally underrated player and has been throughout his whole career. His experience is going to be vital on Tuesday night when Liverpool come up against his former side Man City. He will give a fully committed performance in the midfield and is likely to have lots of defending to do. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Georginio Wijnaldum and Milner are likely to form the midfield axis that will need to help cover the back four. However, Klopp is without his captain Jordan Henderson as he sits out through suspension.
