The agent of Boca Juniors and Colombia international left-back Frank Fabra has confirmed that Everton are interested in his client.

As previously reported by Argentine radio station El Crack Deportivo, the Toffees have made contact with the South American giants over a summer move for the 27-year-old flyer.

Fabra’s agent, Jose Constanzo, has now confirmed Everton deployed scouts to watch him play for Colombia during the recent international break and claimed that the club are in pole position financially, but added that they were yet to receive a firm offer.

As quoted by Gol Caracol, Constanzo said: “We were in Europe working, seeing which teams are looking for left-back. We know that Everton were watching the player with Colombia so we need to wait and see, but for now we have no formal proposal,”

“It is not only Everton, Naples is also following Frank, and Fiorentina could be another possibility. We must bear in mind that the price is high and I think that English football could be the one that can afford it. We are calm in that aspect.”

Fabra has been at Boca since January 2016 after a £1million transfer from Colombian outfit Independent Medellin, with his other two previous clubs also based in his native country.

The 27-year-old has made 52 appearances for the Argentine side since joining, scoring five goals and providing eight assists in that time.

OPINION

Fabra would be a good addition for Everton, who have struggled at left-back this season. Leighton Baines is the only natural player in that position at the club, with Cuco Martina filling in during his injury absence. Fabra is a 17-cap Colombia international and looks to be ready for a step up from South American club football. While his agent claims that the price is high, it surely will not be an astronomical amount, and certainly will be affordable for the Toffees.
