Newcastle United are reportedly lining up a summer move for Bournemouth centre-forward Josh King – and the club’s supporters are desperate to see him arrive at St James’ Park.

The Sun reports that Magpies boss Rafael Benitez is hoping for financial backing from Mike Ashley and has prioritised a move for the £20million-rated Premier League striker.

It is understood the 26-year-old could be tempted to leave Bournemouth if the right deal is tabled and Benitez’s side are set to put together a package for him.

King has established himself as a top-flight striker in recent years and has 28 goals in 97 Premier League games.

The Norway international is renowned for his physical presence, but also has a turn of pace that continuously threatened defences.

Newcastle have had issues in attack this season despite the fact they are in the running for a top-10 finish in the league.

Playmaker Ayoze Perez is the club’s top scorer with seven goals across all competitions, while strikers Dwight Gayle and Joselu have managed just nine between them.

Newcastle fans on social media have given a green light over a potential swoop for King and feel that he could help bolster their frontline.
