Tottenham mainstay Dele Alli has now gone 13 games across all competitions without a goal and needs to break out from his slump immediately to prove his worth to the manager.

The 21-year-old has not scored since 2 January against Swansea and needs to start pulling his weight to remain an ever-present in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The attacking midfielder is a regular feature in the team behind Harry Kane and has shown during his time with the North London club that he is a brilliant goal threat.

However, he is currently enduring a mini goal drought and could find himself axed from the best XI if his form continues in the same vein.

Alli’s 13-game run has consisted of five cameo appearances from the bench in the FA Cup which can’t be read too much into, but his league form has been a worry.

The England international has nine goals so far this season in all competitions, but should be pushing himself higher as he has the technical ability.

Spurs now have serious competition for places in the attacking third of the pitch, but it would be safe to say that Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen are nailed on starters in two of the four positions.

That would leave Alli, Heung-Min Son, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela in direct competition for the two remaining spots.

There is no doubt that Alli is currently a guaranteed starter despite his dip in form, but he needs to get back to his best quickly as Pochettino now has real quality in his squad to choose from.
