Tottenham are reportedly lining up a summer move for West Brom defender Jonny Evans – and the club’s supporters on Twitter have firmly shut the door on any potential deal.
Spurs fans on social media are furious with speculation that they are plotting a raid for the 30-year-old at the end of the season.
The Telegraph reports that Spurs are one of the teams considering activating a £3million release clause in Evans’ deal, which will become active if West Brom are relegated from the top flight.
Manchester United and Arsenal are the other teams in the Premier League casting their eye over his situation at the Hawthorns.
It is understood that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are lining up replacement for Toby Alderweireld amid uncertainty over his future as contract talks remain at a standstill.
Evans is likely to be on the market in the summer for a cut-price sum of just £3million as the Baggies are 10 points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League.
The centre-back has proven himself to be a decent player in England’s top-tier, but Spurs fans are strongly against the club moving to sign him.
They believe that he is definitely not a good enough replacement for Alderweireld and couldn’t imagine him playing for the North Londn club.
