West Ham need a major revamp of their defence in the summer and one position they need to seriously strengthen is at centre-back.

There are a couple of ageing defenders in the Hammers backline and defensively they have been all over the place at times this season in the Premier League.

David Moyes’ side must first of course avoid relegation from the top flight this campaign and afterwards can begin to draw up plans for improving their squad in the next transfer window.

One name that should already start appearing on their watchlist already is West Brom captain Jonny Evans and they need to join the reported chase for him.

The Telegraph reports that Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester United are all plotting summer moves for the 30-year-old.

It is understood he will be available for just £3million if West Brom are relegated, which looks almost certain as they sit 10 points away from safety.

There may be a number of English giants running the rule over the Northern Ireland international, but at the London Stadium he would be able to secure regular football and it would be a logical step in his career.

Evans is a ball-playing centre-back that is comfforbtale off both feet and demonstrated real leadership during his time with West Brom.

West Ham need a real vocal figure to come in and sort out their defence, which is something the Baggies ace has the potential to do.

He would also be an absolute bargain at just £3million and the Hammers need to throw their name into the hat for him.
