Rangers announced on Friday that star striker Alfredo Morelos had signed a new contract at Ibrox, and fans have taken to Twitter in their droves to express delight at the news.
The 21-year-old Colombian has been a revelation this season for the Light Blues since his £1million move from Finnish outfit HJK Helsinki, and his form has been rewarded with improved terms until 2021, as per the club’s website.
Morelos is currently the joint-top scorer in the Premiership this season, with ‘El Bufalo’ having netted 13 times in 27 appearances so far.
He has added even further to that tally in the cup competitions with four extra goals, taking his total to 17 goals in 34 appearances for the season.
The striker’s brilliant form attracted big-money interest from China in January and February, with Super League side Beijing Renhe seeing several massive bids for Morelos turned down by Rangers.
The Colombian has since admitted his ambition is to play in the Premier League down south, but this new contract is a good move from Rangers to either secure Morelos’ future, or at least a big price tag for their star asset.
Fans have taken to Twitter in delight at the massive announcement, with many praising the club for getting the deal done at such a crucial time.
