Everton have reportedly made Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy their number one priority for the summer – and the club’s supporters on Twitter are raging about the possibility of signing him.

The Daily Mirror reports that the Toffees are plotting a raid for the 31-year-old at the end of the season to reinforce their frontline.

It is understood they have prioritised the England international after talks were held to discuss their recruitment plans.

The report details that the centre-forward is likely to jump at the opportunity to switch to Goodison Park despite spending six years with Leicester.

Vardy would be in line to improve his current £100,000-a-week deal to £150,000-a-week if he joined the Merseyside club.

Everton’s director of football Steve Walsh was behind the striker’s switch to the King Power Stadium when he moved from Fleetwood Town and is a big fan of him.

Everton fans on social media have voiced their anger at being linked with Vardy and feel he would be a bad signing for them.

One supporter claimed that Walsh should be sacked from his position as a number of recent signings have struggled to make the desired impact at the club.

Vardy has scored 15 goals across all competitions this season and played a pivotal role in Leicester’ famous Premier League title win in the 2015/16 campaign.

The electric striker is renowned for his blistering turn of pace, but Everton fans are pushing for a younger signing.
