Tottenham are interested in re-signing Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric, according to Diario Gol.

The Spanish news outlet claims that Spurs are keen on landing the Croatia international, but face competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool and Arsenal.

It is understood that the 32-year-old wants to move back to England and is keen on moving to London, where he spent four years in the past with Spurs.

Modric departed the North London club in 2012 for Madrid and has been a key figure during their recent success in Europe.

The central midfielder is renowned for being a pass master that is very intelligent in possession and can also influence play going forward.

Good move for Spurs?

Spurs do already have an overload of talent in midfield, but there is no doubt that Modric would still get in any team in world football.

He was extremely popular during his time at White Hart Lane and a return ahead of a move to a new ground could be perfect timing.

He may not have loads of years left at the top of football, but for now you can’t argue with his technical ability and he would help Spurs dominate games with his style.

Likely to happen?

Modric is believed to be keen on a move back to England and in that case there is no reason why a return to Spurs can’t be feasible and is not on the cards.

However, they are not the only teams mentioned as interested parties and there would surely be a mad scramble for his signature across Europe if he did become available in the summer.
