Celtic are in pursuit of Manchester City goalkeeper Angus Gunn as they look to snap him up on loan next season, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that Brendan Rodgers’ side are keen on the 22-year-old whose impressed this campaign out on loan in the Championship with Norwich City.

It is understood that the 6ft 5in colossus could be tempted by a loan switch to Scotland and that manager Brendan Rodgers hopes the pull of European football can work in their favour.

The report also details Premier League side Stoke City are keen on the shot-stopper, but a potential deal will largely depend on whether they stay in the division or not.

Good move for Celtic?

Celtic desperately need a new goalkeeper ahead of next season and Gunn would be an excellent signing for them if they could pull it off.

The Bhoys can’t rely on the ageing Craig Gordon forever, while Dorus de Vries lack quality and Scott Bain is only on loan at Parkhead.

Gunn is a promising talent emerging in the English game and at the age of 22 already looks a solid goalkeeper.

The giant can play out from the back with his range of passing and is also a very good shot-stopper, keeping 15 clean sheets during his 42 appearances with Norwich this campaign.

Likely to happen?

Celtic do have a good relationship with Premier League outfit and champions-elect Man City that make a loan deal possible in the summer.

The Scottish giants have taken a number of players from the Etihad Stadium on loan and it would make sense for them to really pursue Gunn ahead of next season.
