With Celtic’s Scott Sinclair reportedly wanting to leave Parkhead in the summer, Brendan Rodgers must urge the club to make a move for Wigan Atheltic’s Nick Powell in order to replace him.

The Scottish Sun previously reported that Sinclair wanted to leave the Hoops in the summer and return to the English Premier League.

Even though the 29-year-old midfielder’s form has been inconsistent this season, Sinclair has still managed to score 17 goals in 45 appearances during this campaign.

Rodgers knows that having an attacking threat in midfield has helped his side be successful, and that he needs to find a player capable of being just as prolific as Sinclair, if the 29-year-old leaves at the end of the season.

The Hoops boss should look no further than Wigan’s Nick Powell.

The 24-year-old is currently making football look easy in League One this season, by scoring an impressive 13 goals in 32 appearances during this campaign.

Powell’s ability to be clinical in front of goal while also dominating the midfield battle, makes him the perfect replacement for Sinclair at the club.

The central midfielder has looked too good to be playing in League One and while his performances may see Wigan in the Championship next season, the 24-year-old needs to test himself further.

While there may be a debate about the quality of the football in the Scottish Premier League, it doesn’t matter as Celtic could offer Powell a chance to play in Europe.

The former Manchester United player never got a chance to play in the Europa League or the Champions League, making only nine appearances for the Premier League giants, even though that is where his talent deserves to be showcased.

The 24-year-old has proven himself to be a gifted player this season and Rodgers could give him an opportunity to prove himself on a much bigger stage than the one he is currently performing on.

Therefore with Sinclair likely to be gone in the summer, Rodgers should tempt Powell to Scotland with European football and have him fire the Hoops to success next season.
