Celtic are interested in signing Yeovil Town’s Tom James, according to the Independent

The newspaper claim that 21-year-old has caught the eye of the Hoops as he is able to play anywhere across the back four.

The Independent report that Swansea City are currently the favourites to sign James as they want him in their squad for next season, after not being impressed with Kyle Naughton’s performances during this campaign.

It is believed that Bournemouth are also keeping an eye on the League Two defender, after James became an important member of his side.

Even though James only signed a new contract with Yeovil in January, he is likely to cost less than £500,000 as a down payment.

Good move for Celtic?

Yes.

The versatile 21-year-old would be an excellent signing for the Bhoys as he appears to have a bright future in the game.

James has impressed in the 40 appearances he has made this season, and he didn’t look out of his depth when his side played Manchester United in the FA Cup in January.

The 21-year-old has also tasted Premier League football in England after making one appearance in the division when he was at Cardiff City.

Likely to happen?

No.

James may end up leaving Yeovil in the near future, but Swansea City will be the team to capture his signature.

Playing in England’s Premier League will be a tempting prospect for the 21-year-old, and James will also no doubt be keen to return home to Wales as he was born in Cardiff.

If the Swans pull out of the race, then maybe the Hoops will win his signature.
