OPINION
West Ham welcome Southampton to the London Stadium for a crucial relegation clash in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, and David Moyes must mix things up after the calamity against Burnley.
Before the Premier League went on the international break the Hammers reached the lowest point of their season so far when they fell 3-0 to the Clarets at home.
The game was marred by crowd disturbances which saw several pitch invasions and missiles being thrown at the directors’ box, with owners David Gold and David Sullivan forced to seek shelter.
Several fans have been banned for life for their actions during the match and the repercussions are still ongoing, with a special barrier to be erected to protect the directors against the Saints.
Attention now turns to a clash that will no doubt have massive connotations for the relegation picture come the end of the season, with the Hammers sitting just two points above Southampton, with the clubs in 17th and 18th place respectively.
Southampton are coming off the back of a 3-0 defeat of their own, with fellow relegation candidates Newcastle walking away with a massive win that boosted their hopes of staying up.
The fan trouble during the Burnley game took focus away from what was a dire performance on the pitch for the Hammers, and Moyes must not be afraid to mix things up on Saturday.
