Tottenham defender Juan Foyth is set to receive special attention during the international break from Mauricio Pochettino to help aid his development, according to Football.London.

The news outlet claims that the manager will use the time to help focus on the 20-year-old, while January signing Lucas Moura will also be under the thumb as he looks to settle in England.

It is understood that Pochettino will continue the hard work with those still in the first-team squad that are not on international duty and Foyth is a player that he rates extremely highly.

The Argentinian boss feels he can go on to become a key player for the North London club despite playing more of a fringe role this campaign.

“Juan is 20 now and a great talent,” Pochettino said, as quoted by Football.London.

“He only needs time to adapt himself to the Premier League. He is going to surprise many people.

“Juan is a great kid with a lot of quality to become one of the fantastic centre-backs in the Premier League and Europe too.”

Foyth joined Spurs last summer with a lack of first-team experience, but is being tipped for a bright future and is learning alongside some of the club’s top-class defenders.

The ball-playing centre-back has been given eight appearances to showcase his talent and it appears he could become a regular in the future.

OPINION

Foyth definitely is one of the best upcoming stars at Spurs and he can’t ask for much more by training alongside the likes of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld. The Argentinian has shown in glimpses that he could be a real success in the future and it is a big vote of confidence having the manager praise him. Pochettino has shown he is willing to give youngsters a chance in the senior squad and Foyth can hope for more opportunities in the coming years. He looks in the mould of Alderweireld and if he can go on to match his senior teammate then he could have saved Spurs a hell of a lot money.
