Matt Le Tissier revealed that Liverpool’s game against Manchester United will be a good test to see how Virgil Van Dijk copes against tougher opposition.

The former Southampton player along with his fellow Soccer Saturday pundits predicted the Reds’ clash with Man United on Saturday, and Le Tissier believed the game would end as a 2-2 draw.

“I feel like both teams are more bothered about not losing than winning, but I fancy Liverpool to break through United’s backline, open the scoring and jolt United into some attacking play,” said Le Tissier on Sky Sports’ website.

“It will be a good test of how Virgil Van Dijk, who has strolled through some games without having a hard time, will get on against a much tougher test with United’s attacking power and pace.”

Van Dijk has played eight times for the Reds, scoring one goal, since joining them in January for £75million, according to the BBC, from Southampton.

OPINION

Van Dijk can only prove his ability and his price tag against opposition that will really push him to his limits. Manchester United are certainly capable of testing the 26-year-old centre-back as their attacking frontline is not only powerful but has plenty of pace. Romelu Lukaku could be too much for Van Dijk to handle if he performs to the best of his ability, as the Belgian international can cause any Premier League defender nightmares when in-form. However it is a little harsh for Le Tissier to suggest that Van Dijk has been able stroll through previous games for the Reds, just because he makes it look effortless doesn’t mean he’s not working hard.
